A Catholic Socialist society, which was started in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1906, reports enormous progress in lecture work, literature distribution and membership. It claims more adherents for Socialism among Catholics in Scotland than are gathered from any other denominational section of the community. A similar society in Ireland is reported to be making equally rapid progress and that some of the clergy who formerly opposed Socialism are now secretly supporting it.
Hard continuous, methodical labor destroys courage, saps vitality and demoralizes character. It tames and subdues men, just as it tames and subdues the wild steer or the young colt. Men who labor hard and continuously have no power to think. It requires all their vital force to keep their muscles in trim. —Redbeard.
